NEW YORK, N.Y. -- Junior tight end Jake Butt of the 14th-ranked University of Michigan football team was named one of eight semifinalists for the John Mackey Award on Monday (Nov. 16). The Mackey Award has been given to the most outstanding collegiate tight end in the nation since 2000, and Butt is the first Wolverine to be named a semifinalist for the award since Devin Funchess earned the honor in 2013.
Through 10 games in the 2015 campaign, Butt leads all Big Ten tight ends with 38 receptions and 500 yards.
