Jim Harbaugh selected Brenda Tracy, a sexual assault survivor who travels the country to bolster awareness of violence against women, as the honorary captain for this Saturday’s home opener against Western Michigan.
Members of the Oregon State football team sexually assaulted her in 1998, during Mike Riley’s tenure. When Riley fronted the Nebraska program, he invited her to Lincoln to tell her story of survival.
Now she tours the nation with her #SetTheExpectation message, which according to her website means:
“We are dedicated to combatting sexual and physical violence by supporting coaches, young men and boys to become part of the solution through direct outreach and engagement in high school and collegiate athletic programs.
