The lone solace in a presidential campaign that’s grossly devalued the concept of American exceptionalism is the possibility of a teachable moment. There’s a chance for mutual introspection in the aftermath of Donald Trump’s dismissive justification of audio recordings of him bragging about sexual assault toward women as “locker room talk.”
Male athletes should be offended. It’s patently unfair painting everyone with such a broad brush, suggesting that sports fosters a culture in which disrespecting women through incendiary words is nothing more than a form of male bonding.
Boys just being boys.
Really?
“I think there are a lot of good people in a lot of locker rooms all over the country,” Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio said earlier this week.
