Disgruntled Nebraska fans contend the season doesn’t truly begin until the Cornhuskers lose a game by single digits. Well, consider it official. The Huskers are 0-1 and coach Scott Frost already is on the hot seat after Northwestern rallied past Nebraska 31-28 last week in Dublin, Ireland. Big Red is the first major-conference team since at least 1936 to lose seven consecutive games by single digits. At the other end of the spectrum, Ohio State has won 12 consecutive season openers by at least double digits, and will look to make it 13 against Notre Dame in the Horseshoe.
