At this point in the season, these rankings consider the entirety of the Big Ten schedule with an emphasis on recent play. With that in mind, it was certainly the right time to make a change at the top.

If Rutgers played every game like it did against Purdue on Saturday, losing by two, it would be much higher in these rankings. But there have been too many games like the one that followed -- a 22-point home loss to Indiana.

The Gophers have lost six in a row and nine of their last 10.
