Michigan wants John Beilein to stay on the court for as long as possible.
The Wolverines' basketball coach is coming off of one of the most disappointing seasons of his career, but the administration showed its confidence in him by announcing a two-year contract extension and a raise.
According to a news release from U-M today, Beilein will coach through the 2020-21 season, when he will be 68 years old. His annual compensation will increase to $3.37 million. Based on USA TODAY's figures from last year's NCAA tournament coaches, that would place him eighth nationally, behind Ohio State's Thad Matta.
