ANN ARBOR -- Even after more than 40 years of coaching, John Beilein still enters press conferences incredulous that a bunch of people showed up to hear him speak. He remains surprised at how many people recognize him in public and want a picture or an autograph.
He generally shuns the spotlight, and the headlines generated earlier this month by his interviews with the Detroit Pistons made him uncomfortable. Beilein doesn't care to talk about that process, but on Tuesday, in his first press conference since, he was asked about it.
"I realize it comes with the territory but I want this program to be so much about our players and not about me," Beilein said.
