ANN ARBOR -- Think football is easy? Consider what went through Michigan safety Josh Metellus' mind before his momentum-swinging interception return for a touchdown against SMU Saturday.
The Mustangs were on Michigan's 36-yard line. Metellus checked the clock: 17 seconds left in the first half. He noticed the space between the wide receivers and recalled previous passing plays. With Michigan up 14-7, he figured SMU might take a shot down the field before playing for a field goal attempt.
So Metellus decided to play over the top of the receiver and told himself, I'm going to get to the spot before he does.
