Jim Harbaugh's next defensive coordinator could come directly from his brother's NFL staff.
A source told the Free Press on Friday that Baltimore Ravens linebackers coach Mike Macdonald has emerged as a prime candidate to be the next Michiganfootball defensive coordinator, replacing Don Brown, who was dismissed last month.

The source requested anonymity because they were not allowed to speak publicly about the job search.
Macdonald, 33, has worked under Harbaugh's brother, John, for the last seven years in Baltimore while carrying out different roles — starting as a defensive assistant before moving to secondary coach and then his current position.
