ANN ARBOR -- In February, before Michigan's seniors played their final home game, basketball coach John Beilein mentioned that U-M would be nominating senior Austin Hatch for the Wilma Rudolph Award, given to college athletes who have overcome tremendous odds to achieve academic success.
"I would think he'd be a prime candidate," Beilein said then. He was right.
On Thursday, Hatch was named one of five recipients of the honor, given by the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A). He will be recognized, along with the other honorees, on June 26 at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in Washington, D.
