ANN ARBOR -- Since John Beilein rode Kevin Pittsnogle to the 2005 Elite Eight at West Virginia, the Michigan coach has rightfully earned the reputation as someone who recruits and develops shooters. His teams often take and make a lot of 3-point shots.
This year, not so much.
In games against Division I competition, Michigan ranks 105th in the country in 3-point shooting at 36 percent. That's not bad, but the Wolverines ranked in the top 40 in 3-point percentage in four of the last five seasons. The only exception is 2014-15, when an injury-plagued squad failed to reach the NCAA Tournament.
