Michigan safety/linebacker Josh Metellus knew about Jabrill Peppers’ hamstring injury entering last December's Orange Bowl.
But, like everyone else, he figured the Heisman Trophy finalist would play.
When Peppers didn’t, that put a spotlight on Metellus in the final game of his true freshman season.
“I found out like two minutes before the game,” Metellus said last weekend. “I thought he was playing. I knew he was hurt but I thought he was still going to play. Then two minutes before the game right before we went out for the last time, coach was like, ‘You’ve got the start.
