Spike Albrecht will continue his basketball career, but it won’t be at Michigan.
ESPN first reported Albrecht will play elsewhere next season as a graduate transfer. He will graduate from Michigan in May.
Unlike Max Bielfeldt, who played at Indiana this past season after appealing to the Big Ten, Albrecht will not be allowed to transfer to a Big Ten school.
“I did get my initial release stating I couldn’t transfer from Big Ten to Big Ten,” Albrecht told Gregg Doyel of the Indianapolis Star. “It was kind of expected. That’s the norm. I’m not upset about it in any way.
