Every team has a season-turning moment.
The Michigan basketball team is hoping its came in a hotel room Friday night.
Derrick Walton Jr., one of the quietest leaders Michigan has had in recent years, was deeply affected by Michigan’s blowout loss Wednesday at Illinois. He felt he let the team down with his game-turning technical foul and lackluster performance.
So Friday, he stepped out of character and called a players-only meeting (after a nudge from coach John Beilein) and the players said they were re-starting their season.
“The coaches can only say so much,” Walton said.
