A chance meeting brought Sean Lonergan to Michigan

Spike Albrecht understands better than most the unusual paths that can lead a player to a college basketball program.

And the former Michigan point guard even opened such a door for someone else.

U-M forward Sean Lonergan, a walk-on from Fishers, Ind., may be the least known of the five Wolverines who will be honored for senior day before Saturday's game against Purdue (4 p.m., ESPN2). Lonergan redshirted last season, so he can transfer and play his final year as a graduate student elsewhere, if he wants.

At 6-feet-5 and 210 pounds, he has contributed over the past four years at U-M, playing 43 games and scoring 19 points.
