The Michigan Wolverines won't be playing in the College Football Playoff this season, but they're going to a really good bowl game in Jim Harbaugh's first year at the helm. Our sources indicate it's near a lock that Michigan plays in the Citrus Bowl. That game will be played at Noon on January in Orlando, Florida. Michigan will play an SEC team and the Citrus Bowl gets first choice of SEC teams that aren't in a New Year's Six Bowl Game. This should make for a great matchup. Here are the 3 most likely bowl opponents for Michigan this year.
Georgia Bulldogs
This one is the least likely and it'd be surprising if Georgia was picked. They did not close the season strong, and there's enough dissonance with Mark Richt gone that there's really no way to figure out just how the UGA kids will respond in the postseason.
LSU Tigers
Let's be honest; this is the matchup we want. It'd be Les Miles against his alma mater and Leonard Fournette against a great run defense. This would make for one of the best bowl games outside the New Year's Six matchups. This matchup is reportedly already in the works. Hopefully it happens.
Florida Gators
Bowl games aren't determined by standings, but by the bowl's preference. The Gators make sense since it'd be a short trip for them and that means a solid travelling base. However, Florida's fall from grace and putrid offensive play as of late has decreased the SEC East champs' TV rating drawing power.
