Even though the Michigan Wolverines beat the Cincinnati Bearcats 36-14, this was not a game for Michigan fans to be excited about. After a week where Michigan beat the Florida Gators 33-17 and looked impressive doing so. Their offense should keep Michigan fans up at night. They did get the win though and improve to 2-0 on the season. Michigan gets Air Force next week.

The Offense
The Wolverines struggled to move the ball against a team they were projected to beat by 33 points. Quarterback Wilton Speight finished his day with 221 yards and two touchdowns. Ty Isaac rushed for 133 yards on 20 carries (6.7 YPC). The offense was only able to score 20 points on a Bearcats team that beat FCS lightweight Austin Peay by only 12 points.
Speight is where the issues for the offense begins. He continues to lack confidence and overthrow receivers. Something will need to change if they have any hope of winning big games.
The Defense
The defense played well but could have performed better. Their defense did have two interceptions that were returned for touchdowns. This was the second week in a row where Michigan was able to score a defensive touchdown in back to back weeks. The defense carried the team this week and carried the team last week. For the second week in a row Michigan's defense held their opponent under 200 total yards.
Going Forward
Michigan needs to figure out their quarterback situation and needs to clean up their play by not turning the ball over. This is the third year of the Jim Harbaugh. Harbaugh prides himself on having solid quarterback and offensive line play. Michigan fans might be calling for Speights' head after this game. I would give Speights a "D" grade for his performance today. Michigan has two or three games to get ready before they get into the heart of their schedule in Big Ten play.
