Much of the buzz around the Michigan Wolverines football program has been about the potential transfers of several Ole Miss players. That's understandably a key focus, but there's also the Early Signing Day period of December 20th to the 22nd for Michigan to concentrate on. The Wolverines will ink several top prospects during that time frame and the class currently ranks 12th in the nation with 16 verbal commits. Here's all the latest on Michigan Football Recruiting:
Top verbal commit not signing early
Four-star linebacker Otis Reese (Leesburg, GA) has been committed to Michigan since June 2016, yet he does not plan to sign with the Wolverines early as he continues to be pursued by the in-state Georgia Bulldogs.
Reese has taken several unofficial visits to Georgia this season, while he hasn't been back to Ann Arbor since making the trip for the Spring Game in April. Many believe that he is not signing early because he's planning to flip to the Bulldogs.
The 6-foot-4, 206-pounder is ranked as the No. 6 outside linebacker and No. 92 overall prospect in the country, according to the 247sports Composite.
Michigan commits that will sign early
While Reese will not sign early, here's the list of prospects that are planning to do so:
- 4-star OL Ryan Hayes
- 4-star OL Jalen Mayfield
- 4-star LB Cameron McGrone
- 4-star QB Joe Milton
- 4-star DB Myles Sims
- 3-star DB Sammy Faustin
- 3-star DB German Green
- 3-star DB Gemon Green
- 3-star RB Hassan Haskins
- 3-star RB Christian Turner
- 3-star DL Taylor Upshaw
Michigan's other commits have not stated publicly if they will sign during the early signing period or not.

Wolverines targeting more 2019 quarterbacks
While much of the recruiting focus is on the 2018 class and recruits that will sign this week, Michigan is going back to the drawing board and re-evaluating more 2019 quarterbacks, according to Steve Lorenz of 247sports.
Michigan has picked up their 2019 quarterback recruiting in the last couple of weeks, offering three-star Taisun Phommachanh and four-star Wisconsin commitment Graham Mertz. Both are very legitimate targets for the staff.
With Ole Miss transfer Shea Patterson expected to take the reigns of the starting quarterback job next season with two years of eligibility remaining, the Wolverines are looking for depth afterward - which starts with the 2019 class.
