The Michigan Wolverines are turning up the heat on the recruiting trail during the offseason, and it's already paying dividends. Here's all the latest news and rumors surrounding Michigan's recruiting efforts:
McCaffrey makes Elite 11 finals
Five-star Michigan commit Dylan McCaffrey () was announced as a finalist in the Elite 11 quarterback contest. QB guru George Whitfield, who helps run the event, said McCaffrey's intangibles are what made him stand out.
"He was the alpha here the whole weekend," Whitfield told 247Sports analyst Luke Stampini. "Every kid looked to him and every kid was led by him. There's no question why he's so highly regarded."
McCaffrey, the younger brother of star Stanford RB Christian, will compete in the Finals in July at Nike's headquarters in Oregon.
He is the top-ranked pro-style quarterback and No. 17 overall prospect in the country.
5-star CB to make official visit
Darnay Holmes (Calabasas, CA), the top cornerback in the 2017 class, told Realdawg.com that he has planned three official visits for the fall - one of which will be to Ann Arbor.
"I'm going to take all five of my official visits," Holmes said. "I have set up visits with Ohio State, Michigan, and Nebraska."
He has not set an official date for his visit to Michigan.
Michigan offers 4-star WR
The Wolverines offered a scholarship to four-star wide receiver Elijah Moore (Fort Lauderdale, FL) after he participated in a Michigan satellite camp on Friday.
"It was good experience," Moore said, via 247sports. "I actually just went out there and did my vey best. I like Michigan's coaching staff. They are a powerhouse team so that's a great opportunity to have this offer."
The 5'11", 180-pounder currently favors Miami and West Virginia, but the Michigan offer certainly puts them in the mix. He is ranked as the No. 11 wideout and No. 97 overall prospect in the 2018 class.
