Michigan Wolverines head football coach Jim Harbaugh, and his wife, Sarah, will be guests at President Barack Obama's last State of the Union address. They will be guests of U.S. Reps. Justin Amash, R-Cascade Township and Debbie Dingell, D-Dearborn at the event.
Harbaugh spent three seasons as Michigan's quarterback, leading them to the Rose Bowl in his senior year, then played 14 years in the NFL. He entered coaching following his playing career, serving stints as the head coach at San Diego, Stanford, and the San Francisco 49ers before taking the Michigan head coaching job before this season.
Michigan experienced immediate success under Harbaugh, improving from 5-7 in 2014 under former head coach Brady Hoke to 10-3 in 2015, including a Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl victory over Florida.
Harbaugh will be the first football coach to a guest at a State of the Union address since Penn State's James Franklin was in attendance two years ago.
The Harbaughs will be joined by three other guests from the state of Michigan.
