The Michigan Wolverines are coming off a crushing loss to Michigan State, after a botched punt cost the Wolverines a win. However, the future still looks bright for the Wolverines. Here are the latest rumors for Michigan Football after the loss to MSU.
Michigan Tries To Move Forward
After such a heartbreaking loss, the only thing left for Michigan to do is move on. According to The Detroit News, that's exactly what the Wolverines are trying to do.
“We can’t kill ourselves over one loss like this,” DE Willie Henry told The Detroit News. “It hurts. We know it hurts everybody [that] we lost a game like this so close in the final seconds like that. We don’t want everybody down. Keep your heads up. Still got a whole season.”
Michigan has a bye this week, which could be a good thing or bad thing for the team.
Michigan AD Defends Punter
Given the nature of Twitter and fandom, it's not surprising that Michigan punter Blake O'Neill received hate on social media after the game. It's disappointing, but not surprising. Michigan AD Jim Hackett wrote a public letter urging fans to back off O'Neill.
"I'm asking that our community not lose this game twice by condoning thoughtless comments," Hackett wrote according to ESPN. "... Today I awake to the shocking reality that our community who care so much about this program would send hurtful, spiteful and vicious comments to one of our students. To be clear, such comments come from a small minority, none of whom are reflective of our institution."
Hopefully, the hate for O'Neill ceases shortly.
Stanford Commit Enjoyed Michigan Visit
4-star CB David Long is still committed to Stanford, but he did enjoy his visit to Michigan. The Wolverines are tied with Washington for second on Long's list, according to 247Sports.
"I'm still firm with Stanford," Long told 247Sports. "But I'm making sure that things are set in stone as far as my position placement and if that's truly the best place for me. So I'm still evaluating things which is why I chose to take my visits."
Long is the nations' 7th best CB for the class of 2016.
