The Michigan Wolverines (5-1) jumped from #18 to #12 in the AP Poll after a 38-0 thrashing of the then-unbeaten Northwestern Wildcats. Jim Harbaugh's squad has outscored opponents by a count of 150-14 during their current five-game winning streak and looks primed for a Big Ten title run heading into next week's mega-rivalry game against Michigan State. Before we get there, it's time to assess where we're at right now with the latest Michigan Football Rumors Roundup.
New Jersey Recruits Take Over Ann Arbor
Three Michigan commits from the state of New Jersey were Ann Arbor this week for the team's showdown with the Northwestern Wildcats: Ahmir Mitchell (official), Ron Johnson and Brad Hawkins (unofficial). They were joined by fellow New Jersey native and Nebraska commitment Quayshon Alexander who has been on Michigan's radar for quite some time now.
The tact that Michigan ultimately takes when it comes to a potential flip of Alexander will likely hinge on how they fare with Carlo Kemp -- the other 2016 player they're targeting at BUCK. Kemp is considered by many to be a Michigan lean, but Notre Dame's another major player in the mix right now.
Kareem Walker In The Big House
Another big-time recruit Michigan entertained at The Big House on Saturday was five-star running back and Ohio State commit Kareem Walker.
Walker showed interest in Michigan last year when recruited by Brady Hoke, and he still might have some interest in program. However, there's also a chance that he's happy with the situation in Columbus and just wanted to take in a massive Big Ten game in Ann Arbor. Either way, UM put on the best show they possibly could in hopes of facilitating a flip.
Vegas Is Ready For Michigan State Week
Want a bit of betting news to make your post-win Sunday that much better? Michigan has opened as four-point favorites over their rivals, the Michigan State Spartans, for Saturday's massive showdown in Ann Arbor. Just three weeks ago, the Wolverines were listed as seven-point underdogs.
Three straight shutouts later and Michigan has turned the Vegas tide by 11 points. In all reality, a four-point spread means that whoever is setting the line sees UM as one point better than MSU on a neutral field. Home teams are usually granted a three point cushion to start with by oddsmakers.
