The college football season doesn't start for another month and a half, giving the Michigan Wolverines plenty of time to focus on recruiting. Michigan has turned up the heat on the recruiting trail during the offseason, and it's already paid off with 18 commitments - but the Wolverines are far from done. Here are the latest news and rumors surrounding Michigan football recruiting.
Michigan in final group for OT target
Four-star offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson (Brooklyn, NY) unveiled his top five schools on Wednesday, and the Wolverines made the cut.
"I have Michigan, LSU, Georgia, Bama, and USC," Wilson said. "Those are 99.9% my final five. There's one school that could sneak in, that may make a play into my top five. That's classified right now, but he knows who he is (laughs).
"Basically what I like about all of those schools is the big time football atmosphere. We all know they can put players in the league. All of the coaching staffs are great coaching staffs. The history of the team, all of that other stuff. Academics as well. All of them seem to have my major (business or communications), and are pretty good for my major with the combination of football. That's what I'm looking for in a college."
Wilson already has scheduled an official visit to Ann Arbor in the fall, but may take an unofficial before the summer is over.
The 6'7", 350-pounder is ranked as the No. 7 offensive tackle and No. 29 overall prospect in the country.
5-star WR to pick Michigan?
Donovan Peoples-Jones (Detroit, MI), the top-rated wideout in the 2017 class, is still considering several schools, most notably Florida, Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State. He hasn't given any indication as to who his leader is, but 247sports' Crystal Ball predictions say there's a 71 percent chance the five-star prospect signs with Michigan.
Ohio State comes in second with 14 percent, while Michigan State has 10 percent and Florida has five percent.
