The Michigan Wolverines are turning up the heat on the recruiting trail during the offseason, and it's already paying dividends. Here's all the latest news and rumors surrounding Michigan's recruiting efforts:
Michigan on top for No. 1 C
Four-star center Cesar Ruiz (Bradenton, FL), the top-ranked center in the 2017 class, is expected to sign with Michigan, according to 247sports.
Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy 2017 four-star center Cesar Ruiz has become very familiar with Michigan throughout the recruiting process, and despite recently backing off on naming any leaders in his recruitment, the 247Sports Crystal Ball still resides with the Wolverines in the race for his services.
The last 21 predictions on Ruiz's profile have come in for the Wolverines after a couple early predictions for North Carolina. Despite his no longer having an order to his top twelve, most still believe it's Michigan, Alabama or North Carolina for Ruiz, with Florida State a potential factor as well.
Along with being the top-ranked center, Ruiz is ranked as the No. 137 overall prospect in the country.
4-star WR works out for Michigan
Ruiz's teammate at IMG Academy, four-star wide receiver Jhamon Ausbon, worked out for Michigan at East Houston's Football Showcase on Monday, and has the Wolverines as one of his top four schools.
"I really like the coaches there and just wanted to get a chance to work with them," Ausbon said. "I haven't been up there yet but I like what this staff is building there. I like what they bring to the table for sure. It's a place with great coaching and great tradition."
Ausbon committed to Baylor early in his recruiting process, but re-opened his recruitment in March. He plans to announce his decision at the Army All-America Game and is deciding between Michigan, Texas A&M, Auburn and Baylor.
The 6'3", 220-pounder is ranked as the No. 10 wide receiver and No. 65 overall prospect in the country.
