The regular season is still months away, and the Michigan Wolverines are taking advantage of their offseason by turning up the heat on the recruiting trail. Here's all the latest news and rumors surrounding Michigan's recruiting efforts:
4-star TE to put Michigan in top group
2018 four-star tight end Mustapha Muhammad (Missouri City, TX) attended Michigan's "Bright Lights, Big House" camp last weekend, and he had such a good visit that he told 247sports he will put the Wolverines in his top groups whenever he decides to name finalists.
"This has was a great visit for me," Muhammad said. "I had lots of fun. It's definitely going to be in my top schools -- I don't really have a certain number -- but Michigan is going to be in my top schools. I really like Michigan.
"It was pretty cool meeting both [Jim and Jay Harbaugh]. It strengthened my relationship with both of them, and I look to continue to visit and build relationships with the Michigan coaching staff after today."
Muhammad is ranked as the No. 8 tight end and No. 134 overall prospect in the 2018 class.
Top OL impressed by Harbaugh
Five-star offensive lineman Wyatt Davis (Bellflower, CA) visited Michigan last weekend, and came away very impressed with the experience.
“It’s more of a city feel up there,” said Davis, comparing Michigan to his other visits to Notre Dame and Ohio State. “They have aspects there that remind me a lot of Cal Berkeley. I was surprised how big the city was and then the campus is right in the heart of campus. I liked the layout of it all. When I got up there, I got a tour of the campus and we sat in academic meetings. We checked everything out. It was great.
“I’ve talked with coach Drevno multiple times on the phone, so when I went out there, it was great. I know how he feels about me and we’ve talked about the feeling. This time, though, he said that head coach Jim Harbaugh watched my film and he thinks I could be a tackle for them. So, they made it clear that wherever I feel comfortable, that’s the position I’ll play.”
Davis was so impressed that he said he will make one of his official visits to Michigan.
The 6'5", 310-pounder is ranked as the top offensive guard and No. 14 prospect in the country.
