The Michigan Wolverines are in the midst of spring ball and now in Italy to finish up their practices, but that hasn't done anything to stop their momentum on the recruiting trail. In fact, Jim Harbuagh & Co. were hard at work before heading overseas. Here are all the latest Michigan recruiting rumors and news you need to know.
4-Star TE's Visit To Michigan A Success
Before his visit to Michigan for the Wolverines' spring game, 4-star TE Mustapha Muhammad didn't have Michigan at the top of his list. That changed after his visit though. Muhammad spoke with Land of 10 about his visit and why it altered his list.
"It was one of the best visits I’ve been on," Muhammad said. "I got to hang out with the coaches, tight end group and the fans. I even got to sign autographs. It was an overall great experience."
That's high praise from Muhammad, a top 100 overall recruit. It's a positive sign for the Wolverines' chances with Muhammad. They're now the favorites to land him.
Pep Hamilton Visits QB Target
Just before Michigan headed out to Italy, Pep Hamilton took a trip to Arizona Friday to visit with three-star QB Tyler Shough. He's one of the Wolverines top targets at the QB position, along with Joe Milton of Florida.
That Hamilton took time to head to Arizona just before flying overseas is a clear sign the Wolverines want to land Shough. He's the No. 556 overall recruit and the No. 4 player in the state according to the 247Sports composite. But according to just the 247Sports rankings, Shough is a four-star and the No. 213 recruit. He'll visit Ann Arbor in
4-Star OL Likes Visit
The class of 2018 gets most of the attention, but Michigan isn't ignoring the class of 2019. That's the case with four-star offensive lineman Nolan Rumler. After his fourth visit to Ann Arbor, the Akron native spoke with 247Sports.
"I've gotten really familiar with the football side of things at Michigan," Rumler said. "Their offensive line is getting strong and they played well on Saturday. I got to spend some more time with Coach Drevno and Coach Harbaugh as well. Things are great with Coach Drevno; he's an honest guy and has coached at the highest levels. He's done a good job of developing the linemen they have on their current roster too."
Rumler also said he wants to take another visit in the summer. Not that it's a major surprise with four visits already, but Michigan is the front-runner for Rumler. He's listed at 6-foot-4, 290-pounds.
