The Michigan Wolverines already have eight commitments in the 2018 class, only one of which is an offensive lineman. That is set to change in the coming days and weeks.
According to Steve Lorenz of 247sports, four-star offensive tackles Jalen Mayfield and Ryan Hayes are expected to commit to Michigan very soon.
Grand Rapids (MI) Top100 offensive lineman Jalen Mayfield announces in a week. Have not heard anything to suggest that it won't be anybody but Michigan.
It's been relatively quiet over the last month or so for Traverse City (MI) West four-star Ryan Hayes, but we continue to hear that he's Michigan's to lose at this point with Greg Frey leading the charge. A Hayes/Mayfield combo would be a great tackle duo in the 2018 class with not a ton of effort involved in reeling them in compared to working national prospects.
Mayfield was originally committed to Minnesota, but after receiving an offer during an unofficial visit to Michigan on March 24, he decommitted from the Golden Gophers two days later. He will announce his commit on May 23, his birthday.
The 6-foot-5, 255-pounder is ranked as the No. 10 offensive tackle and No. 105 overall prospect in the country by 247sports.
As for Hayes, Notre Dame is thought to be Michigan's biggest competition, but the Wolverines are still the overwhelming favorite. The 6-foot-7, 252-pounder is ranked as the No. 8 offensive tackle and No. 95 overall prospect.
