The Michigan Wolverines have a long layoff as they prepare for the Orange Bowl, and some that time is devoted to recruiting. The recruiting dead period is now here, but several recruits are making their decisions in the coming days. That means there's plenty to get to around Michigan football recruiting. Here are all the latest Michigan recruiting news and rumors you need to know.
Latest On Isaiah Wilson
One of Michigan's top targets this recruiting cycle, Isaiah Wilson, will make his decision this Friday. Wilson is a five-star offensive tackle and the No. 32 recruit this year. 247Sports' Steve Lorenz reports (VIP required) that Michigan believes they will land Wilson. That would be a big get for the Wolverines, who need offensive line help. However, Lorenz says it's not a sure thing. Alabama, Rutgers (he's from New York) and Georgia (making a late run) are also in the mix. To be alerted when Wilson makes his decision, download the Chat Sports App for iPhone and Android.
Will Michigan Get Donovan Peoples-Jones?
Another big-name recruit is set to announce his decision this week: WR Donovan Peoples-Jones. He'll make his decision Thursday night. The Cass Tech product is a five-star recruit, the No. 11 overall prospect and the No. 1 WR. He's also the No. 1 player in the state of Michigan and the Wolverines are the favorites to snag him. However, 247Sports' Isaiah Hole (VIP required) says that although Michigan thinks they'll land Peoples-Jones, it's not a sure thing. Ohio State and Florida State are the two biggest threats to poach Peoples-Jones.
A.J. Dillon Decommits From Michigan
The Wolverines lost four-star recruit A.J. Dillon to Boston College Wednesday morning. Dillon announced the decision on his Twitter account.
Not everyone is going to understand or agree with my decision, I did what's best for me -> https://t.co/LdpTsP0R8q #DecideToFly pic.twitter.com/MmzEdjMKgy
— AJ Dillon (@ajdillon7) December 14, 2016
Dillon said he made the decision to flip because he wanted to be closer to his home. Dillon is a four-star recruit and the No. 301 prospect in the nation. He can also play linebacker (which might end up being his long-term home). Michigan already had two RBs committed and are still pursuing Najee Harris (see above). Going to Boston College might help him see the field at RB faster.
WR Tarik Black Commits
Michigan landed the commitment of four-star WR Tarik Black on Wednesday. If you missed that decision, you can read more about it here.
