The Michigan Wolverines have long been the favorite for four-star tight end Mustapha Muhammad (Missouri City, TX), but that could be changing.
His recent interest in the SEC could be threatening Michigan's place at the top of his list even though the Wolverines are still in control for now, according to Steve Lorenz of 247sports.
“It’s pretty serious to me,” Muhammad told [247sports' Taylor] Hamm. “I’ve been doing some research, and watching SEC football, it’s amazing. There’s nothing like it. Just the thought of me having the opportunity to play in the SEC, which in my opinion is the best conference, I have to be all over that.”
This, of course, flies a bit in the face of the 24 predictions currently in Michigan's favor on the 247Sports Crystal Ball. The Wolverines still hold all of the predictions.
I did some digging on Monday afternoon, and am told contact between the two parties remains very consistent and as positive as always.
Long story short, my CB prediction is going nowhere.
Muhammad does hold scholarship offers from 11 SEC schools, though LSU and Texas A&M are the two that he has shown the most interest in. Those two schools are Michigan's biggest threat for Muhammad.
The 6-foot-4, 235-pounder is ranked as the No. 4 tight end and No. 91 overall prospect in 247sports' Composite Rankings.
