Spring practice is rapidly approaching for schools around the country and the Michigan Wolverines start their spring practice in less than a month. While that has the attention of the coaching staff, recruiting is a never-ending process and remains on the minds of the Wolverines. Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh and his coaching staff are already hard at work putting together the pieces of the 2017 recruiting class.
We're here to detail the three most interesting tidbits around right now with our Michigan Pre-Spring Practice Recruiting Rumors And News Roundup For Feb. 20th.
Five-Star OT Puts Michigan In Top 5
OT Isaiah Wilson is a five-star recruit and the No. 16 overall recruit. He told 247Sports that his top five schools are, in no particular order, Michigan, Alabama, LSU, Georgia and Ohio State. Wilson is the top recruit from New York and said Michigan's tradition and academics are a big reason why he's interested in Michigan. The Wolverines are the only school from that group Wilson has visited and they are the current favorite.
No. 1 DE Wants To Visit Michigan
Joshua Kaindoh is a five-star DE and the nation's top weakside defensive end for the 2017 recruiting class. The No. 18 overall recruit told 247Sports he plans to visit Michigan and that the Wolverines are among his top schools.
"Maryland, Penn State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, there’s a bunch like Florida State and also kind of taking a look at Southern California," Kaindoh said. "The ones I’m really interested have a good mix of athletics and academics."
Kaindoh hails from Florida, and is the No. 5 player from the state. Several schools are in the mix for Kaindoh, and he's a long way off from making a decision.
Four-Star Safety To Visit Wolverines
Jaylen Kelly-Powell has already unofficially visited Michigan once since the school offered the four-star safety, and he told 247Sports he'll pay another visit to Michigan on Wednesday. Kelly-Powell is the No. 15 safety in the nation and the No. 247 overall recruit. The Wolverines are considered the favorite for Kelly-Powell, but several schools are recruiting him and it'll be a battle for his services.
