The Michigan Wolverines have done an excellent job recruiting in the state of New Jersey since Jim Harbaugh took over as head coach, and the state will continue to be a top priority for them int he 2018 recruiting class, according to Steven Lorenz of the Detroit Free Press:
Last Wednesday, Paramus (N.J.) Catholic linebacker Drew Singleton signed his letter of intent to play for Michigan, marking the third time in four seasons the Wolverines signed the top player in the Garden State according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
All three of those prospects -- Jabrill Peppers and Rashan Gary the others -- attended Paramus Catholic high school, but the Wolverines also signed four-stars Kareem Walker and Ron Johnson along with three-star Michael Dwumfour in 2016, and also signed Grant Newsome in the 2015 cycle. The state has been a major priority under Jim Harbaugh's staff and since hiring of linebackers coach and Jersey native Chris Partridge, who was recently named the nation's top recruiter by 247Sports.
In 2018, the story will be similar, as New Jersey continues to produce high quality talent across the board.
Michigan has already extended offers to many 2018 prospects in the state, including four-star defensive end Tyler Friday, the top ranked prospect in the state. They also have offered the top four uncommitted prospects in New Jersey.
The Wolverines already have two commitments in the 2018 class in four-star guard Emil Ekiyor and four-star outside linebacker Otis Reese.
