The Michigan Wolverines announced they have hired former Hawaii defensive coordinator Kevin Lempa as a senior defensive analyst.
"Kevin is a great addition to our football program and defensive staff," Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh said in a release. "He adds a wealth of experience and knowledge on the defensive side of the ball, and Kevin's working relationship with Coach (Don) Brown will be a big asset for our team.”
Lempa has a 42 year coaching career, and only spent this past season on the Hawaii coaching staff. He also worked under current Michigan defensive coordinator Don Brown at Boston College and Maryland.
"I am very excited and honored to become part of Coach Harbaugh's staff," Lempa said. "I am also fired up to be working with Coach Brown again."
An analyst can only recruit on campus and can't coach on the field, but assist in game preparations and can coach in practice. Lempa will replace Dave Adolph, who passed away.
