Michigan Wolverines defensive stars Jabrill Peppers and Jourdan Lewis have been the team's best NFL Draft prospects, both projected all season to be first round picks. Now, Taco Charlton has joined them.
In ESPN analyst Todd McShay's newest rankings, Charlton is the No. 4 defensive end in the draft - and the No. 13 overall propsect.
"Charlton finished the season on a tear, compiling 10 sacks in his final 10 games," McShay wrote. "He has always had the raw ability, but this season, he showed more consistency and refined technique. Charlton has the ability to be an edge defender in either a 3-4 or 4-3 scheme in the NFL."
Charlton finally seemed to put it all together this season, and at 6-foot-6 and 277 pounds, figures to be one of many defense ends drafted in the first round (the 2017 class is loaded at the position.
He finished with 39 tackles and 10 sacks this season.
Peppers was rated as the No. 8 overall prospect on McShay's board, with Lewis coming in at No. 27. Michigan hasn't had more than three players drafted since the 2008 season, but they are expected to get MUCH more than that with tight end Jake Butt, defensive tackle Chris Wormley, offensive guard Kyle Kalis and center Mason Cole all also expected to be drafted.
