The Michigan Wolverines landed a commitment from four-star QB Dylan McCaffrey Monday night, the No. 2 pro-style QB in the nation. He's the younger brother of Stanford Cardinal RB Christian McCaffrey, and was Jim Harbaugh's top QB target for the 2017 recruiting class.
McCaffrey is the type of recruit the Wolverines can build their 2017 offensive recruiting class around. The Wolverines certainly hope that he's the first of several high-profile recruits the they land. A tip of the cap to 247Sports, as their composite rankings were used to detail the recruits' rankings. With that in mind, here are six offensive stars the Wolverines could land to compliment McCaffrey.
RB Najee Harris
Harris is currently committed to Alabama, but he's still getting offers and getting visits. Jim Harbaugh visited him in January, and the Wolverines will at least try to steal the No. 2 player in the nation away from Alabama. WR Donovan Peoples-Jones
Peoples-Jones is the No. 1 WR in the class of 2017 and the No. 7 overall recruit. It's going to be quite the battle for the top recruit from Michigan. Ohio State, Michigan State and Michigan are all pursuing Peoples-Jones. It's too early to declare a favorite, but Michigan will do everything they can to land him.
OT Isaiah Wilson
The Wolverines will need to protect McCaffrey (or whomever the Wolverines start in a few years), and Wilson could be the left tackle for years at Michigan. He's a five-star recruit and the No. 16 overall player in the class of 2017. He's the No. 5 OT and the top player from New York. Michigan is the current front-runner, but schools like Alabama, Penn State and even Rutgers are also in the mix.
RB D’Andre Swift
Harris isn't the only top-flight RB Michigan is pursuing. Swift is a four-star recruit and the No. 29 overall recruit. Michigan has already offered Swift, but they aren't the favorites at the moment. Penn State is the front-runner to keep the Pennsylvania product, with Florida State also in the mix. Download the Chat Sports Android and iPhone app for more Michigan recruiting rumors.
OT Tedarrell Slaton
Michigan won't limit itself to just the one four-star offensive lineman they have committed. Even if they're able to land Wilson, Michigan will try to add a few others, as depth is needed. The Wolverines next top target is Slaton, the No. 46 overall recruit in the 2017 class. He's the No. 8 tackle in this class. While Florida State is the favorite to land the Florida-based recruit, Jim Harbaugh has visited Slaton twice already.
RB Anthony McFarland, Jr.
McFarland is the third highly-touted RB the Wolverines are hoping to land. He's a four-star recruit and the No. 52 overall recruit. He's from Maryland, but it's actually Georgia that is considered the favorite at this time. But don't count out Michigan and McFarland took an unofficial visit to the school in November.
