An airplane carrying the Michigan Wolverines basketball team was involved in an accident after skidding off the runway, the school announced. No one was injured in the incident.

“After attempting to take off in high winds, takeoff was aborted and, after strong braking, the plane slide (sic) off runway," the school said in a statement. "The plane sustained extensive damage but everyone on board was safely evacuated and is safe. The team is making alternate traveling plans.”
The plane was traveling to Washington, D.C. for the Big Ten Tournament, and was trying to take off despite high winds at Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti, Michigan.
Michigan is set to play Illinois in the Big Ten Tournament quarterfinals on Thursday. Tipoff is set for noon ET on the Big Ten Network.
