Fall camp for the Michigan Wolverines is already underway, as the Wolverines look to improve on last year's 10-3 record. The Wolverines want to make it back to the top of the Big Ten, but do have some question marks, especially at QB. Head coach Jim Harbaugh has been just what Michigan needed, but the Wolverines will still be counting on several unproven players to play key roles in 2016.
That makes fall camp critical for getting those players up to speed and ready to play. With that in mind, here are the latest fall camp news and notes for Michigan Football.
QB Battle
With Jake Rudock playing for the Detroit Lions, Michigan is searching for a new QB. John O'Korn, the Houston transfer, was the favorite before the start of spring practice. But Wilton Speight, who played sparingly last year, left spring ball with a slight advantage. While redshirt junior Shane Morris, true freshman Brandon Peters and redshirt freshman Alex Malzone are also on the roster, the battle is centered on O'Korn and Speight. O'Korn has the higher ceiling, but Speight is the likely to commit fewer turnovers. This position battle can and likely will continue for a few more weeks, but Michigan and Harbaugh will pick a starter by Week 1.
Rashan Gary Update
Gary didn't enroll early, making fall camp his first time in college practices. So far, he's been getting glowing reviews.
"He's on a different level," one source told 247 Sports. "He has the right combination of talent and drive to be a star."
There's also the first video of Gary in pads.

Gary will play defensive end this year, although he could always shift inside in the future. The No. 1 overall recruit has a future as bright as anyone.
Khaleke Hudson Generating Rave Reviews
Hudson was just a three-star recruit this year, checking in at No. 384 overall. That appears to be too low, based on the reports coming out of camp. Hudson is already ready physically and with 247Sports reporting he'll "be a force once he gets down the playbook." Hudson is rooming with Jabrill Peppers, and that's not an accident for the 5-foot-11, 205-pound athlete.
"I don't think it's fair to compare anyone to Jabrill this early," linebackers coach Chris Partridge said. "They're not exact replicas of each other, but they're kids who have the same attributes. Khaleke is the kind of guy that is going to do some things that are going to wow some people. I think we'll be looking at him to contribute sooner rather than later."
That's high praise for one of the lower-ranked recruits from Michigan's 2016 recruiting class.
Freshmen Tight Ends Standing Out?
Jake Butt is without a doubt starting TE for Michigan since he's returning for another year. But the Wolverines have promising young depth behind him in Tyrone Wheatley Jr. and Devin Asiasi. Both have stood out early in fall camp, with the true freshman Asiasi likely to play this year. After redshirting last year, Wheatley is "light years ahead" of where he was last season. The Wolverines are flush with tight end talent for both this year and going forward.
