In a game that offered a glimpse into what the future rivalry will look like between the #12 Michigan Wolverines and #7 Michigan State Spartans, the Spartans shocked the Wolverines on a touchdown as time expired on a Wolverines botched punt.
It was redshirt freshman defensive back Jalen Watts-Jackson who recovered the fumble and ran it into the end zone to give the Spartans a 27-23 win.
Michigan's stout defense had one of its worst games of the year, which for the Wolverines is still only allowing 24 points. They shut down the Spartans' ground game, limiting them to only 58 yards on 33 carries. However QB Connor Cook, despite being plagued by drops from his usually steady WRs, rallied the Spartans for the win. Cook threw for 328 yards, more than Michigan's entire offense had.
Michigan State did not lead until the clock read zero.
The Spartans are now 7-0, while Michigan falls to 6-2. Both it losses have come against top 10 teams.
