Breaking from Ann Arbor - newly hired WR Coach Dan Enos, rumored to be considered for a Co-OC role at Michigan after Feb 7th national signing day, is leaving to take an Associate Head Coach and WR Coach role at Alabama under Nick Saban.
Sports Illustrated's Pete Thamel was the first to report the story on Twitter.
Enos lasted only 15 days with the program after being officially announced as WR Coach on January 8th. His salary was listed at a lower-than-market rate of $150,000, but included a $600,000 raise should he add the word 'Coordinator' to his job title.
Michigan fans will speculate that the reason for leaving could be related to the job prospects of OC Tim Drevno and Passing Game Coordinator Pep Hamilton. Many speculated that Enos was being hired in to be the new OC or at least Passing Game Coordinator, with Hamilton or Drevno (or both) moving on to new jobs following February 7th's national recruiting signing day. With the news of Enos' departure, one would think that is a signal to expect the offensive coaching staff that guided Michigan to it's lowest passing TD mark since 1975 to remain in tact (minus Greg Frey, who took a lateral role as OL Coach at Florida State).
This move does open up a spot on the Michigan coaching staff to offer a full time role to former OSU OC Ed Warinner, who Michigan hired this week as a non-coaching 'offensive analyst'.
