Four-star linebacker Cameron McGrone (Indianapolis, IN) announced his commitment to Michigan after giving the Wolverines coaching staff a verbal commitment over the weekend, according to Steve Wiltfong of 247sports.
The four-star recruit and U.S. Army All-American actually gave Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines staff his verbal while in town over the weekend for the Barbecue at the Big House.
“It’s a true honor,” McGrone told 247Sports prior to his public announcement. “I still can’t believe it. It’s really honorable to call myself a Wolverine.”
A June 22 visit to Ann Arbor changed everything for McGrone who was favoring Notre Dame at the time. Michigan offered and immediately made him feel at home with the program. Talks with defensive coordinator Don Brown and linebackers coach Chris Partridge made McGrone feel extremely comfortable and Jim Harbaugh helped bring it home.
Notre Dame and Indiana were the two other schools that were Michigan's biggest competition, but his connection to the Michigan coaching staff is what won him over. He made it official this weekend while in attendance at Michigan's BBQ at the Big House this weekend.
The 6-foot-1, 215-pounder is ranked as the No. 14 outside linebacker and No. 215 overall prospect in the country, according to 247sports' Composite Rankings.
