Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross, who also happens to be Michigan's largest donor, said he spoke with the university's president, Mark Schlissel, last week about the fate of athletic director David Brandon.
Brandon came under fire during the fallout of an incident regarding Michigan quarterback Shane Morris, who was allowed to re-enter the Sept. 27 game against Minnesota despite obviously sustaining a concussion.
Ross was one of his biggest supporters following the incident, telling the Wall Street Journal that Brandon is “as qualified to be an athletic director as anyone could be” and should remain at the school.
In their meeting on Monday, Ross said he will not interfere with the decision regarding Brandon.
“I don’t think alumni should control universities,” he said. “We have a great president and he is running the university and not me.”
Ross also went on to say that Brandon shouldn't shoulder all the blame for Michigan's disappointing football season, calling it the "coach's responsibility". The Wolverines are just 3-5 this season following a 35-11 loss to in-state rival Michigan State this past weekend.
Schlissel had said previously that he was "deeply disappointed" by the way the Morris situation was handled.
