Rich Rodriguez on Michigan NCAA violations: "A bunch of BS"

Former Michigan Wolverines coach Rich Rodriguez is still unhappy about the NCAA violations Michigan committed during his tenure with the school, and lashed out at the NCAA in an interview with Sports Illustrated's Seth Davis.

Rodriguez, now the head coach at Arizona, had this to say about the NCAA violations:

"I get mad when I think about that, to me -- and I don't mind saying it -- I thought it was a bunch of BS," Rodriguez said. "We got in trouble for, in the offseason, a strength coach putting a rubber ball on a stick for a get-off thing when (players) did their running. A rubber ball on a stick."

The NCAA found Michigan guilty of several major violations back in 2010, including playing and practice time violations, unethical content, failure to monitor, and exceeding coaching staff limitations. The Wolverines were put on a three-year probation period, and were forced to limit practice time during the 2011-12 season.

"Another thing we got in trouble for was letting some of the interns, or quality control guys, sit in the room while we watched film. Not add any input, just sit there and learn -- young coaches wanting to be coaches -- and that's a violation.

"There's schools now that are hiring ex-NFL coaches and scouts to do that full-time for them. Yet I got a violation because of that."

Rodriguez was fired following the 2010 season after amassing a 15-22 record (6-18, Big Ten). At Arizona, Rodriguez is currently 11-6.
