Former Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon resigned Friday amidst controversy and severe criticism from fans and boosters alike, and the school has already found someone they want to replace him.
ESPN's Joe Schad is reporting that the Wolverines have targeted Northwestern AD Jim Phillips - who doesn't have any ties to the university - to fill Brandon's spot in Ann Arbor.
Phillips has been at Northwestern since 2008, and served as the athletic director at Northern Illinois for the four previous years. He also served as the AD Chair of the Big Ten for two years while working as a member of the Rose Bowl Management Committee.
Other candidates for the job are Connecticut's Warde Manuel and Boston College's Brad Bates, both of whom do have Michigan ties.
