The University of Michigan will hold a press conference Friday afternoon to announce that athletic director Dave Brandon will resign and not return next season.
Brandon had come under fire from fans and critics for a variety of incidents, most notably the mishandling of quarterback Shane Morris' concussion in the Sept. 27 game against Minnesota and the rising cost of student tickets for football games.
Earlier this month, Michigan's president, Mark Schlissel, said that he would take a deliberate approach when evaluating Brandon. However, a message seemed to be sent when the school's biggest donor, Miami Dolphins owner Stephen Ross, said he would not stand in the way of Brandon's departure.
Michigan's eight-member Board of Regents has favored firing Brandon, with only two of the members supporting him.
