Michigan made Jim Harbaugh the highest paid coach in college football history with a six-year, $48 million deal, but the decision to return to his alma mater wasn’t all about money. According to FOX Sports, Harbaugh could’ve made more in the NFL:
The exact amount that Oakland offered Harbaugh is unclear, but it would have made him the highest paid coach in football history (both college and NFL levels).
Nick Saban is now the second highest paid college football coach in the country, making $7.3 million a year at Alabama. Sean Payton (Saints) is the highest paid coach in the NFL, making $8 million a year.
Harbaugh will be making $8 million a year at Michigan.
