Michigan vs. Notre Dame Preview and Prediction

Last week the Michigan Wolverines rolled over Appalachian State in a rematch of the infamous 2007 upset game, posting 52 points in a rout.

Notre Dame defeated Rice 48-17, setting up a matchup of two schools looking to get off to perfect 2-0 starts.

Records:

Notre Dame: 1-0

Michigan: 1-0

Last Meeting: Michigan won 41-30 (2013)

Key Stat: Michigan leads this series matchup with a 24-16-1 overall record, including winning four of the previous five games.

Notre Dame Outlook: The Fighting Irish come into this matchup ranked #16 in the nation. After putting up 576 yards of total offense last week, the Notre Dame offense is firing on all cylinders coming into this game.

Quarterback Everett Golson scored four total touchdowns last week - including three on the ground.

Michigan Outlook: The Wolverines were led by a stellar performance from quarterback Devin Gardner, who completed 13 of 14 passes for 173 yards and three touchdowns.

The offense was aided by huge performances from running backs Derrick Green (170 yards, touchdown) and De'Veon Smith (115 yards, two touchdowns).

What to watch for: With both offenses rolling coming into this matchup, expect a high scoring affair in this rivalry.

While both Golson and Gardner will be the guys to keep an eye on in their respective offenses, both teams will need to get other playmakers involved this time around.

For Michigan, that means continuing to feed the Green/Smith combo on the ground.

For Notre Dame, one of their receivers will have to step up to improve the passing game. Look for that to be sophomore receiver William Fuller - who caught four passes for 85 yards and a score last week.
