Details and sources are still being confirmed, but there is a new wrinkle in future scheduling for Michigan football.
Over the past several months, Michigan has reportedly been in talks with USC, Oregon and Stanford to schedule a home and home match up in the 2015/16 seasons, leading into the scheduled match ups with Pac 12 teams starting in 2017.
From what I just heard from a very trusted source, those talks have stalled for the time due to Michigan requiring a home game in 2016. Stanford already travel east to face Notre Dame, USC playing Texas A&M at an unknown neutral location and Oregon making the trip to the state to face Michigan State the year prior.
Now, a new wrinkle has emerged. We have been told that Michigan officials have begun discussions with joint MetLife stadium committee (run by the ownership groups of the Jets/Giants) about hosting a single game there in 2015. The game would be held the weekend prior to the start of NFL season, Sept 5, 2015.
Now, who will the Wolverine play?
There have been 4 teams proposed: Pac 12 powers Oregon & USC along with perennial ACC powers Florida State and Miami. Stay tuned for more info as it comes in.
