Sorry for not publishing this article as I normally on Friday before the game, I have been traveling and didn't get the chance.
Quick hitter as we await kickoff:
Offense
As I noted last week before Minnesota game, the offense was going to get simpler in the passing game. We saw evidence of the simplified passing game last weekend, and look for that style of play in the coming weeks.
* I expect Fitz Toussaint to get the bulk of the carries at RB.
* Look for Roy Roundtree to get some looks in the passing game early on. The coaches made an effort to draw up plays to him practice this week and Denard was pleasantly surprised with the solid hands that 'Tree showed in tight coverage. As I have said for months, Denard lost confidence in Roundtree last year and did not work with him much this summer, leading to the lack of production we have seen out of the 2010 team leader in receptions.
* I expect Michigan to complete over 20 passes this game, something that they have not done yet this season.
* I expect passing yards to exceed rushing yards today.
Defense
* The THUNDER will be brought early and very often on NW QB Dan Persa. The game plan is to get to Persa and make him as uncomfortable as possible. I expect him to be unable to finish tonight's game.
* Blake Countess will get a ton of snaps today. I expect him to start vs MSU next week.
* Look for a couple corner blitzes.
* Expect the Michigan secondary to play VERY tight coverage to throw NW receivers off rhythm.
Shorter post than normal . . . . about to kick off. My prediction: Michigan 21-17.
GO Blue!
