A full simulation of the 2013 college football season in EA Sports NCAA Football '14 had the Michigan Wolverines ending their season with a win over Mississippi St. in the Capital One Bowl after finishing third in the Big Ten. The Wolverines finished with a 9-4 record, 6-2 in conference play.
After trouncing Central Michigan in the season opener, the Wolverines stumbled against No. 12 Notre Dame, falling 31-14 in the Big House as a result of four turnovers, including two fumbles and an interception by QB #12, aka Devin Gardner. Michigan rebounded with a 42-point trouncing of Akron, but then stubbled in a 34-32 loss at Connecticut, allowing 432 total yards and turning the ball over three times - two interceptions and a fumble by Gardner.
The Wolverines rebounded after that, winning four straight, including a 41 point win at Penn State and a solid victory at Michigan State, before stumbling in a nine point home loss against No. 10 Nebraska. Michigan then won road games at Northwestern and Iowa before losing by 20 to undefeated Ohio State in the regular season finale.
But they trounced Mississippi State 52-3 on New Years Day in the Capital One Bowl, not turning the ball over once and forcing three of their own. In addition to the three takeaway, the defense limited the Bulldogs to 187 total yards, 93 on the ground and 94 in the air. Gardner threw for 268 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also rushing for a score. True freshman running back Derrick Banks lead the Wolverines on the ground with a pair of touchdowns of his own.
Offensive tackle Taylor Lewan and punter Matt Wile were both named Second-Team All-Americans, and Gardner set a Michigan single-season record with 28 passing touchdowns. Michigan ended its season ranked No. 20 in the coaches poll and No. 21 in the AP.
