Jim Harbaugh is still on the lookout for another quarterback to add to Michigan's incoming recruiting class...and it sounds like he has a new (or, renewed) target.
Zach Gentry is a 4-star QB from Albuquerque, New Mexico who committed to the Texas Longhorns back in May, then effectively shut down his recruitment. Michigan had been after him early, but backed off when he committed to Charlie Strong's team. Per Rivals.com, several heavy hitters including Alabama and Tennessee have tried to gauge the seriousness of his commitment since, but everyone to check up on him so far has been given a firm no.
Clearly, something changed, because Jim Harbaugh was in New Mexico on Monday for a personal visit to the 6'7 QB's home. Recruiting analysts from Rivals and elsewhere are all in agreement that this is a big deal - going from 'not interested' to having Harbaugh in your living room is a pretty major turnaround.
Gentry is the #8 Pro-Style QB in the Class of 2015, and he'll now be one of the most closely-watched players in the country as we inch closer to National Signing Day on February 4. Stay tuned to our Michigan page for every Wolverines recruiting story as it happens.
