Most Michigan fans know Mike Weber as the player who de-committed from Michigan during the Maryland game. Even if you blocked out that painful memory (which would be completely understandable), you probably heard about Weber twisting the knife by committing to Ohio State soon after.
After that entire saga, Weber could still end up a Wolverine.
The #9 running back in the Class of 2015, Weber is still a serious target for Michigan, and they've been working overtime on the Cass Tech senior. Weber got two in-home visits from recently-hired Michigan RBs coach Tyrone Wheatley in the last two weeks, and Harbaugh himself was in Detroit to pay him a visit Thursday.
Jim Harbaugh has a limited amount of time before national signing day, and a lot of work to do. He isn't about to waste two in-home visits from a top recruiter, THEN stop by himself if he doesn't think he has a real shot at flipping Weber...so today's visit was a very positive sign for the Michigan faithful.
Weber averaged over 10 yards per carry this past season for Cass Tech, and he'd be able to compete for playing time in Michigan's backfield right away. The path to a starting job at OSU is much less straightforward, and it's a safe bet that Wheatley and Harbaugh both mentioned that Weber wouldn't have to sit around waiting for an opportunity if he came to Ann Arbor. Keep a very, very close eye on Weber as we move closer to National Signing Day on February 4.
